Xin chào, những ông bố bà mẹ thông minh 🙂 Hôm nay chúng tôi sẽ …

  1. What do you think of this project? Too much work or is it worth the savings? Also, if you enjoyed the content consider checking out my new merchandise store: EDIT: For everyone asking: you can’t convert the speakers to USB because they don’t have a DAC, that’s handled on the board. It would require a lot more wiring and electrical work to get them over USB or 3.5mm

  2. Brilliant. Great video, thank you. (ps its videos like this that soar your subscribers 🙂

  3. Slowed it down to make sure but it could've been edited out, did you remove the strip cover on the bottom right and was there an adhesive strip on the bottom left? Lol. I used to repair iMacs at Apple all the time and I was like "wait, did he just not do it?!?" Nice mod!

  4. Leighton Pratt

Apple is gonna hate you for this…Great video!!!

  5. 2014 iMAC > Weren't there 2 Versions of th 5K Display reLeased in 2014? It seems Like the 2015 was the first Complete 5K iMac DispLay (forget the differences)

  6. Did you plug the webcam to the conversion board or to the iMac?

  7. aesubs icloud

Did you make any attempt at crediting any of the people that did this first years ago?

  8. Using actual "Apple's panel"

  9. Would this support hdr?

  10. Very creative. Well done.

  11. Görkem Bıyıklı

Why don’t you add the original speakers, isn’t it possible ?

  12. The Question is can you also use the original Speakers and Microphone too?

  13. Gacha HOTTIExøx

This is a great deal since the 27inch 5k lg display is still going FOR 1.2k on ebay

  14. for a 15s, 16s or 17s 5k iMac how much increase will we see in the price?

  15. I had the 2014 iMac. Bought it at launch. It lasted until I bought the M1 Mac mini. However, the iMac in that time I had to bring in multiple times for overheating issues. Apple ended up replacing several parts during both times. Both times it helped for a short time, but the overheating would start up again soon after. Then the warranty expired, so any future times I brought it in would be out of pocket. Instead, I decided to open it up myself. The amount of dust inside of it was crazy. I'm surprised the fans even moved, with how much dust was caked inside of it. It was disgusting. You'd think with all those times I brought the thing in, Apple would have cleaned it out, but nope.

As for the Studio Display, I'm not a fan. The camera isn't great in it. Plus I prefer a camera not fixed to a display. Being able to angle the camera or place it where I want is ideal for me. I'm also a dual-display user, so I would need to invest in 2 of these projects, which isn't a bad thing, but I'll just stick with 2 4K displays that I got for around $400-500 each.

  16. Awesome! This is a great deal and keeps avoids e-waste.

  17. Rafe TV Gaming

is there a way to maybe add the imac speakers to the monitor because they are good speakers and it would be nice to have

  18. Hey Luke. I didn’t see a fan in the converter board. For long term use, won’t the iMac overheat? I know there’s a fan in the 5k ultrafine display. Thanks.

  19. Waiting for the day the developers figure out how to integrate the original speakers

  20. Short to Ground

Do you know Macs can run in slave display mode right?

  21. Hritwik Ranjan

Why not just buy a monitor. I still don’t get that point

  22. Amazing content. Would it still be possible to calibrate the monitor? I used a i1Display Pro to calibrate my iMac 2017 5k, but how would it work on a monitor like this?

  23. Sick, imagine pairing this with one of those cheap ass macbook pros with no display

  24. I've been searching for a way to do this for years!

  25. Burak Karlidag

Is the macbook pro M1 Max charged via usb-c?
Does the usb-c of the driver board support 5k at all or do you have to use displayport for that?

  26. Cool project Luke, but I will just buy a monitor with 600$ instead of doing all those hard works. LOL

  27. fair play Luke, fair play 👏👌

  28. Stefano Bianchi

Really inspiring, i'm searching for all the needed components

  29. Mihnea Stoian

This is my plan for our 2015 non-ssd iMac that works, but would be awesome to just upgrade it to a mini and use it just for the display.

  30. Why not include the speakers?

  31. Stephen and Sam TV

Studio Display is stupidly overpriced. I'm trying to find a Thunderbolt Display in Scotland if anyone is selling…

  32. Søren Christian Frier Aarestrup Røddik

Great idea. I think i will dissasemle my "old" 2015 imac, and use it for my MacBook Pro M1

  33. Hi Luke! Great and clever project. What about microphone? I believe it doesn't have it.

  34. It just needs glorious RGB Luke.

  35. Hey Luke, hoping you see this. Does the controller automatically scan for inputs or does it have to manually be changed?

  36. OK – I have an a Mac Studio. Still waiting for the display to come. I've had it hooked to an old HP 2K display My solution was to hook up my 2017 iMac to the Mac Studio via Luna Display. Luna Display plus a Thunderbolt cable is about $170. The Mac Studio drives the 2017 iMac through Luna Display at 5K. Works really well. I'll be using it as a secondary display once I get my Studio Display. Good work around for the expense.
